About the Trip

Gokyo Ri is a peak located in the Khumbu region of Nepal, near Mount Everest. It has an elevation of 5,357 meters and is a popular trekking destination for those seeking stunning views of the Himalayas. The trek to Gokyo Ri usually begins with a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, followed by a trek through the Sagarmatha National Park. Trekkers will pass through various Sherpa villages, including Namche Bazaar, before reaching Gokyo Lake. The lake is a stunning turquoise color and is surrounded by snow-capped peaks.

From Gokyo Lake, trekkers can continue on to Gokyo Ri, which is a steep climb up to the summit. However, the views from the top are breathtaking, with panoramic vistas of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu. The best time to trek to Gokyo Ri is during the autumn and spring seasons, which offer clear skies and mild temperatures. However, trekkers should be prepared for cold temperatures and high altitudes, as the trek reaches over 5,000 meters above sea level.

Detail Itinerary

Day 02:Arrival Kathmandu – transfer hotel – tour briefing

Upon arrival at Kathmandu airport, which sits at an elevation of 1,302 meters or 4,270 feet, our staff will be waiting to receive you and will escort you to your hotel. After settling in, you can take some time to refresh yourself or explore the surrounding area before accommodating in your hotel.

Day 02:Flight to Lukla – trek Phakding (2652 m.) 3 Hrs.

Kathmandu to Lukla is a popular flight route in Nepal as it is the gateway to the Everest region. The flight from Kathmandu to Lukla takes approximately 30-45 minutes. Lukla Airport is also known as Tenzing Hillary Airport and it is located at an altitude of 2,860 meters.

Lukla is a small town in the Khumbu region of eastern Nepal and is a popular starting point for trekkers heading to the Everest region. Phakding is a small village located about 9 kilometers south of Lukla and is often the first stop on the trek to Everest Base Camp.The trek from Lukla to Phakding is relatively easy and takes about 3-4 hours for most trekkers. The trail descends gradually from Lukla, passing through several small villages and crossing several suspension bridges over the Dudh Kosi River.  Along the way, trekkers will enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.

Day 03:Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3440 m.) 4-5 Hrs.

Phakding and Namche Bazaar are two popular stops along the Everest Base Camp trek in Nepal. The distance between Phakding and Namche Bazaar is approximately 7.5 kilometers.The trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar is uphill, with a gradual ascent. The trail passes through several suspension bridges, forests, and small villages along the way.The trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and is a great introduction to the Everest region. It is important to plan your trek carefully and take necessary precautions to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.

Day 04:

Our next day trek from Namche Bazaar to Dole is approximately 11 Kilometers. Namche Bazaar is located at an altitude of 3,440 meters and Dole is located at an altitude of 4,009 meters.The trek from Namche Bazaar to Dole is considered moderately difficult. You will be walking on a well-defined trail, but there are some steep ascents and descents along the way. It’s important to take your time and acclimatize properly to the altitude.

Day 05:Trek Dole to Machhermo (4470 m.) 5-6 Hrs.

Dole and Machhermo are two villages located in the Khumbu region and famous for their stunning mountain views and trekking trails. Distance between Dole and Machhermo is approximately 5 kilometers and the trek takes around 3-4 hours, depending on your pace and fitness level.The trail follows a gradual uphill path. You’ll pass through beautiful rhododendron and pine forests, and if you’re lucky, you might spot some wildlife along the way. As you gain altitude, the views of the surrounding mountains, including Cho Oyu and Thamserku, become more and more impressive. Machhermo is a small but charming village that’s worth exploring, with traditional Sherpa houses and a beautiful gompa (Buddhist monastery) that’s perched on a hill overlooking the village.

Day 06:Trek Machhermo to Gokyo Lake (4750 m.) 4-5 Hrs.

Distance from Machhermo to Gokyo Lake is around 6.5 kilometersand typically takes around 4-5 hours to complete. Machhermo is situated at an altitude of 4,470 meters while Gokyo Lake is located at an altitude of 4,750 meters. Trek from Machhermo to Gokyo Lake is a moderately difficult trek that offers breathtaking views of the Himalayan landscape and high-altitude lakes. It is recommended to have prior trekking experience and to take necessary precautions to ensure a safe and enjoyable trekking experience.

Day 07:Trek Gokyo to Gokyo RI (5483 m.) 4 Hrs. and stay Gokyo

Next day our trek starts from the village of Gokyo and distance from Gokyo to Gokyo Ri is around 3.5 kilometers. From Gokyo to Gokyo Ri usually takes around 3-4 hours. Gokyo Ri is located at an altitude of 5,357 meters above sea level.Trek from Gokyo to Gokyo Ri is a rewarding experience for those who are looking for a challenging trek with breathtaking views of the Himalayan mountains.

Day 08:Trek Back Gokyo to Dole (4009 m.) 5-6 Hrs.

We will start our trek early in the morning from Gokyo. Cross the first bridge over the river and then head towards the village of Machhermo. This is a small village that offers great views of the surrounding mountains. From Machhermo, the trail climbs up to a ridge before descending towards the village of Luza. This village is surrounded by fields of barley and wheat. From Luza, the trail descends to the river again and then crosses a suspension bridge. The trail then climbs up to the village of Lhabarma, where you can stop for lunch. After lunch, continue on the trail towards the village of Dole. The trail climbs steadily, passing through rhododendron and juniper forests.

Day 09:Trek back Dole to Namche (3440 m.), 5 -6 Hrs.

The trek back from Dole to Namche Bazaar follows the same trail as the trek from Namche Bazaar to Dole, but in reverse. We wil start early in the morning to avoid the midday sun and to make the most of the daylight. The trail initially descends steeply through the rhododendron forests and crosses several small streams. Trek back from Dole to Namche Bazaar takes about 5-6 hours, depending on your pace and the number of stops you make along the way.

Day 10:Trek Back Namche to Lukla 5-6 Hrs.

Trekking back from Namche Bazaar to Lukla is about 13 Kilometers.Trek can take anywhere from 5-6 hours depending on your pace and level of fitness.Trail from Namche Bazaar to Lukla is mostly downhill, but there are some sections that go uphill as well. The trail can be rocky and uneven. The trek back to Lukla offers stunning views of the Himalayan Mountains and the Dudh Koshi River. You’ll also pass through charming Sherpa villages and encounter friendly locals along the way.

Day 11:Fly Back Lukla to Kathmandu, 35 minutes

The flight typically takes about 30-40 minutes, depending on the weather conditions and airline. The route is operated by several airlines, including Tara Air, Sita Air, and Summit Air.

Day 12:Departure Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA)
