The Manaslu Circuit Trek is a moderate to challenging trek and a dream come true for many trekkers. This region of Nepal is one of the least visited areas, offering access to remote and secluded valleys.
During the trek, trekkers will have the opportunity to enjoy the stunning Himalayan scenery, glaciers at high altitudes, diverse cultures, and wildlife unique to the Himalayas. The trek follows the ancient salt trading route, which runs alongside the picturesque Budi Gandaki River.
Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, our representative will greet you and transfer you to the hotel. You may rest for the day or take a city tour as per your preference. You will have a general briefing session with your trekking guide in the evening.
Your journey to Manaslu begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Arughat via Dhading Besi, followed by a drive to Soti Khola. Though the bus ride is lengthy, you will be mesmerized by the beautiful rural landscapes of Nepal.
You will hike from Soti Khola to Machha Khola through the dense Sal woodland, passing by multiple streams, waterfalls, and the Ghale settlement. You will encounter uphill and downhill pathways, which are unpaved mule paths.
Today, you will have an adventurous trek through rugged terrains, passing Gurung villages like Khorlabensi, Tatopani, and Dobhan, along with traditional Buddhist monasteries.
You will pass through riverbanks and dense sub-tropical forests, crossing many suspension bridges while crossing Budhi Gandaki and other small rivers.
You will travel through a tortuous path through a bamboo grove to get to Deng. Crossing the suspension bridge will take you to the Rana and Bihi Phedi communities, and the trail will avoid the landslide region while heading towards Ghap. You will reach Namrung after crossing Ghap.
You will pass through Mani stone walls and terraced fields while walking from Namrung towards Banjam. You will reach the Lihi and Lho settlements via a trail that enters rhododendron woods, with many painted gate arches along the way. After Lho, you will ascend steadily, with vistas of the Manaslu peaks accompanying you on the way to Sama Gaon from Shyala.
You will spend today exploring Samagaon and its attractions, including the PungGyen Gompa and Birendra Tal, both located east of the Nubri valley. To get a stunning view of Mt. Manaslu (8,163 m/ 26,781 ft), cross the river and ascend a peak. You can also hike to the Manaslu Base Camp by continuing on the trail through Birendra Tal and turning left, with both options providing excellent mountain views.
Today, you will ascend slowly in altitude as you climb to Samdo, passing through meadows dotted with Mani Walls and prayer flags. Once you are out of the tree line, you will cross a wooden bridge and climb up to Kani.
You can either stroll around the community or climb Samdo Peak for a view of Larkya La Pass once you arrive in Samdo. The trek from Samdo to Dharamsala takes about 4-5 hours and follows the Marsyangdi River, offering amazing views of Manaslu (8,163 m/ 26,781 ft).
On this eagerly awaited hiking day, you will pass across the highest point (5,160 m/ 16,929 ft), Larke La Pass, and enjoy the vista of Manaslu’s entire valley. The summit provides great views of Himlung Himal (7,126 m/ 16,818 ft), Cheo Himal (6,812 m/ 22,349 ft), Annapurna II (7,937m/ 26,040 ft), and other Annapurna ridges. Then follow the pass to Bimthang village.
Descending from Bimthang, you will be mesmerized by the views of Himlung, Lamjung, and other peaks. The trail takes you through Sangre Kharka’s expansive pasture land, leading you to the beautiful rhododendron forest, and eventually arriving at Tilije.
Today you will pass through the beautiful Thonje Village and cross Dharapani, which connects to the Annapurna Circuit Trail. Cross the Marsyangdi River and numerous beautiful waterfalls before arriving at Tal.
The trail from Tal to Syange is sometimes steep but generally a gentle hike down. You will pass through the village of Chyamje, cross the Marsyangdi through a suspension bridge, come across terrace fields, and finally arrive at Syange. Syange also has a magnificent waterfall that is worth checking out.
In the morning, hike to Besisahar, where the Manaslu Trek ends. From there, take a bus to Kathmandu and enjoy the night in the historic city. Indulge in local Newar cuisine and souvenir shopping in Thamel.
Finally, the trek ends, and you will be escorted back to the airport with loads of memories and a lifelong experience. Don’t forget to check your cameras to relive this experience again.
